This is a temporary Guide until Lyan gets one up. Now. I've done two versions of it a more complex and an easier one. Now roleplaying is a style known as T1. The real name I've forgotten many times alright so nyeah.
now Battling in a roleplay or even just roleplaying is considered T1.
To summarize: T1 is a paragraph-form, turn-based roleplaying style. It's mostly used for fighting. So you take turns fighting. What, how does it work? I'm glad you asked.
Okay, so you get a character. You build it up, know its strengths and weaknesses (yes it has to have a weakness. no god-modding.) No, it can't be a godly god of gods. You can't just make up a character out of the blue and its like, immortal, extremely strong, has an unbreakable weapon thats undodgable. I like T1ers with morals, those who make a character, stick with it and build it up to standards. not just make one up, poof, its automatically stronger than the character you've had for 2 years and it gets killed. Its just crappy, alright? Okay, you had your lecture about the characters.
So the other person has a character. One decides to lurk in a forest and wait for some person to attack as it seems to always be. they spot your character and disrespect your mom. Mmhm, its on now.
Guy 1 leaps out of the bushes (.......) stands infront of enemy (.......) poises for attack (........)
Guy 2 senses you anyway, ** (........) watches the other person or something (........) readies for attack (........) sudden throws a punch in your general direction, aiming most positively for your groin. oh jesus. (.......)
Guy 1 Whoaho, they were poised and ready, man. (........) they saw your moves, and since i was ready, i could easily catch your fist, grab it myself, and squeeze so hard it breaks your bones, fg (.........)
Guy 2 Curses, he blocked (.........) ow, holy ****. see because of gravity, me throwing down a punch and him all the sudden moving his hand to block it, i'm not godly speed nor can i slow down time and avoid that. thats just stupid. i take the hit, and now my hand is crippled. great. and no, i can't heal myself magically in the middle of a fight. okay im gonna kick the guy in the......... and so on.
And they continue to fight. Fairly. So thats basically how you DO it. Now, don't think you're a master now, young grasshopper. i'mma go grab a taco and continue this later.
hokay! hello everyone! Some things I want to go over with you. Prepping in T1. making a move requires preps. If you dont know what preps are, they stand for "preparing." Say you wanna hit someone in the face. Okay. Heres the prep before the move. She slings her arm back, clenching her hand into a tight ball. Something like that, you know? the attack would be something along the lines of "She let arm drive her fist straight into the cheek of her opponent, driving his head back in a violent jerk" or something.
Because, this all adds to your description. T1, for most, is all about description and the quality of your post.
T1 is all about strategy. It takes time and effort to fool your opponents and get some hits in.
So for T1, remember
1) no god modding
2) use strategy, common sense, and laws of gravity
3) take blows, you can not block every single attack
4) as much description as you can without dragging on and on and on
5) be clear in your movements
6)though its strategy, play fair. don't be cheap.
Pretty much, if you make a fight, you kinda make the rules in terms of whats allowed and whats not. If magic, weapons, etc is allowed. Always make that clear. These are the over-all rules, though.
If anyone has anything to add, please PM me and I will add it. Thank you, enjoy, and kick ass.
Simpled Guide
What is T1 and how is it applied to the roleplaying world?
Basically... It's forum fighting. Many family disputes are solved through T1, or a personal issue between two roleplayers; if one says he's better, and he gets beaten, he's weaker. End of. Although, this isn't a 'rule' to T1, but, it is some type of invisible law that is broken quite frequently in the roleplaying world. And of course, you can do T1 just for fun too, or just to sharpen your skills.
It is always pretty detailed, nothing like, "Walks up to him, draws sword, and gets ready to fight."
That's just lazy. And not very realistic, which, in the roleplaying world, is usually the main goal for the writer. To make it as realistic as possible. This isn't the matrix, you aren't going to dodge a bullet ( Unless of course, you're character has some special technique that would permit this ). This also isn't dragonball z ( Unless of course, you're using a d**-like character ). But what I mean with these two statements is that if you're a normal human roleplaying a soldier in WWII, you aren't going to just jump to the side of a bullet fired from a machine gun. Sorry. Add realism, but the amount can vary on the circumstances and characters, setting, and time that the fight takes place. Meaning you can't whip nuts out the yin yang, such as a fully loaded gun appears in your hands out of nowhere. Etc.
What is preps???
Basically... It's adding more realism to a fight. Or any rp really. If you were firing an energy attack that could destroy a planet, you can't do this all in one turn, you have to prepare for it. Preps is just short for preparations. Easy. If you have further questions with this, ask here. Or pm me.
What does a T1 fight require for me to start???
Setting and characters to put it into broad terms. Just elaborate. Alot. View other fights, and you'll get it in no time. Usually the person starting the thread will ask for you to post a minimum amount of information to fight him/her.
What are the rules?
No god-modding. That's the biggest, plus you got to prep. Don't forget that and you should do just fine. I believe some other rules are in the rules thread in this forum, but, usually the person starting the thread which will contain a fight, will specify on the rules. Such as you can have a limited number of weapons, armor, etc. Also, don't forget the laws of physics and gravity. You can't jump ten feet in the air if you have 250+ pounds of armor on you.
God don't you love being able to save things in notepad.
